The Challenge

In a time when National Guard soldiers are increasingly being called to serve in international conflicts and homeland security, the organization is losing the equivalent of 45 brigades each year to preventable soldier attrition. The National Guard needed a cost-effective yet powerful program to keep their soldiers in boots.

The Solution

Drawing on the insights and expertise of recently mobilized soldiers and subject matter experts, Mind & Media created the Retention Now and TEAM Mobilization Leader Toolkits.

These portable training programs address critical mobilization leadership and soldier/family care issues. The toolkits combine multimedia presentations, lesson plans, handouts, and an instructor training booklet. Each element is designed to teach Guard leaders how to handle attrition and retention issues, help soldiers and their families deal with deployment, and help soldiers readjust to civilian life on their return.

The Results

To date over 22,000 kits have been distributed to National Guard units in all 54 states and territories. Each has helped the Guard stem the tide of soldier attrition by promoting mission focus, combat readiness, and soldier/family care. The kits have won eight industry awards for communication excellence in writing, video scripting, and design/packaging.
