The Challenge
The Military Equipment Valuation (MEV) initiative was created by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense’s Property and Equipment (P&E) Policy Office to implement new accounting standards for all military equipment. In order for this new initiative to succeed, the P&E Policy Office needed to secure buy-in, train employees, and ensure effective, efficient execution.
The Solution
To help the P&E Policy Office accomplish these objectives, Mind & Media developed a strategic combination of outreach materials, media tools, and customized training programs, including:
- A comprehensive outreach and communication plan to reach out to critical stakeholders and provide them with required training
- A new branded identity to give the program a sense of cohesiveness
- Stand-up and interactive computer-based training that empowered the P&E Policy Office to train a large audience with diverse learning needs
- An exhaustive DoD-wide outreach campaign—including articles for print and online publication, direct email executions, and cross-promotion on other Services’ websites
- An eye-catching new website with streaming video and Flash animation
The Results
Mind & Media’s comprehensive outreach and training campaign achieved overwhelmingly positive results. It enabled the P&E Policy Office to effortlessly reach out and educate Defense Department business financial managers about the revised accounting procedures, and it helped DoD capture the most accurate values possible for its military equipment. Armed with this knowledge, government officials are empowered to make sound investment decisions.
