Online Training Tool

The Challenge

Designed to reduce the risk of lead-based paint hazards in residential housing, the Lead Safe Housing Rule requires various actions in pre-1978 federally-assisted housing. Providing training tools and resources related to the rule is a key responsibility of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control. HUD OHHLHC came to Mind & Media seeking an engaging online tool that would help its field staff and program participants understand and implement the requirements of the Lead Safe Housing Rule.

The Solution

To meet this challenge, Mind & Media developed a comprehensive solution that included the following components:

  • A robust Decision Tree that mapped out the various Rule requirements and subparts.
  • A professionally designed online tool which allows users to determine which requirements apply to a specific project under the Rule and serves as a one stop shop for important lead-related resources
  • Outreach materials to market the tool, including a fact sheet, outreach emails, and a comprehensive Marketing Plan
  • A User Feedback Questionnaire, which will be used to update the tool in subsequent years.
