Mind & Media’s Hiring Process
As Mind & Media continues to evolve and transform, one essential element must remain: our culture. And a big part of our culture relies on attracting and hiring the right people—stellar performers—because we are who we hire. Stellar performers possess success-driven behaviors—intrinsic motivators that make them strive to do the best at everything they do and to care about how their performance is perceived. Mind & Media assesses new hires based upon:
- Behaviors for Success—the internal drive and motivators that indicate likelihood of success;
- Cultural Fit—the general personality, character traits, values, and goals of a candidate in comparison to those of the company; and
- Skills—the experience, expertise, and education required to perform the available position.
The purpose of this document is to share the hiring process we follow to determine stellar performers.
- Create a job description. In order to have a successful hire, a detailed job description is key. Laying out the expectations of the job for the new employee gives candidates a clear understanding of job duties and responsibilities.
- Create a PRO. Mind & Media uses the Predictive Index (PI) program to help evaluate and find the best candidates. The PRO worksheet provides objective information about the behavioral demands of the job.
- Create and post the job ad.
- Accept qualified resumes online.
- Screen job applicants and conduct brief phone interviews with select candidates. Send any rejection letters.
- Send the PI survey and job application to candidates selected for interviews. Once returned, compare with PRO to help determine if candidate meets the behavioral requirements of the job.
- Conduct success-based interviews with remaining candidates. This may include more than one interview, and even group interviews. Send any rejection letters.
- Have final candidates complete skills testing and background checks (including professional reference checks, criminal background, degree certification, and employment history).
- Prepare conditional offer letter for final candidate.
- Once signed offer letter is returned by candidate, set start date and begin orientation process.
