The Challenge

At many companies, the orientation process is profoundly disorienting for new employees. Mind & Media wanted to create an orientation program for its own new employees that would get them fully productive as quickly as possible while making it crystal clear what they were responsible for learning and when.

 

The Solution

Mind & Media came up with Mind & Media University, a fun, fast-paced orientation package for new staff that lets them hit the ground running.

  • Our writers distilled the company's philosophy and award-winning communication techniques to write 16 pedagogically sound lesson plans.
  • Our art, video, and multimedia teams produced an enlightening and humorous Flash-based training series that brings the lesson plans to life with dramatizations, interviews, and an online certification test.
  • We designed an accompanying orientation kit and workbook with examples, checklists, and important HR information.
  • We developed a template for a continuing education course all new staff must create, to apply what they've learned and share their own expertise.

 

The Results

With Mind & Media University, skills, company knowledge, vocabulary, and attitudes that would normally take nine months to a year for a new employee to learn take less than three months.
