The Challenge

Sexual assault is the most underreported crime in our society, according to the FBI. In an effort to combat this growing problem, the Department of Defense (DoD) issued a directive requiring all DoD agencies to create and implement sexual assault prevention programs. To meet this mandate, the Army National Guard needed a comprehensive education and prevention program that would raise awareness and provide support for victims.

The Solution

Mind & Media developed a compelling Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Program that provides vital Guard-specific information and resources to support sexual assault victims and train victim advocates, including:

  • The Sexual Assault Awareness Prevention Video, “Sexual Assault: Staying On Guard,” which conveys the significance of sexual assault to Guard members, explains the rights of sexual assault victims, and details resources for reporting incidents and receiving treatment.
  • The Victim Advocates (VA) Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Training, a thorough and engaging presentation that provides VAs with Guard-specific information and resources on sexual assault awareness and prevention.

The Results

Since the debut of the Sexual Assault Awareness Prevention video, the number of victims coming forward to report assaults continues to rise.

Winner of multiple industry awards, including the 2006 Aurora Gold Award, the Sexual Assault Awareness Prevention Program has empowered the Guard to better train troops and to take action against offenders.
